Problems Shutting Down Windows 98 Second Edition,
If you click Shut down and then click OK, the computer stops responding while displaying the following message: Windows is shutting down.
Does anyone else have this problem?

in control panel > power settings > somewhere in the options you can change what the off button does, try making sure its on shutdown, and press apply. might work, it did for me, but i have xp now so its not a problem! ha ha! Wink

I had that problem, the power setting thing doesnt really help as windoews shuts down automatically.
I got Nortan Utiliaties 2000. it has pc doctor and a load of other usefull software. i used most of the applications that clean and search ur pc and now pc runs faster, doesnt crash as often and shuts down better.

K, its all solved now. you just have to download Windows 98 Second Edition Shutdown Supplement and it never happens again. this seems to be the only solution.

I useually find throwing the monitor out the window helps. Make sure you have a dustpan & brush ready though. Laughing
