Post Post subject: FIFA Wold Cup 2002, who will win? Reply with quote

So, who's gonna win the football world cup this year?

Personally I think there is no obvious favourite this year (has it ever been?). Teams that I think will do well are Argentina, Brazil, France and Italy. Outsiders might be Spain, Germany and perhaps one of the african teams (Nigeria). England might also do well if they play at the same level as when they beat Germany 5-1 last year throughout the tournament, but I'm afraid they will disappoint all fans once again Rolling Eyes

Sweden will for sure not take bronze medal this year as they did in '94, but they have a few interesting players like Henke Larsson (who was an upcoming youngster in the 94 tournament), Ljungberg and Ibrahimovic so they might go far if they are able to get through their though Group (with Argentina, England and Nigeria).

Ok, my be is that France wins once again. This year they got the same good defence and midfield, while their strikers are a lot better now than 4 years ago. Bhartez is the only concern...hehe Razz

Anyway. Hope we'll have a fine tournament. Too bad all games are played during working hours here in Europe...guess a few people might get some world-cup diseases and stays home from work for a few days...or weeks....hehe... Wink

Germany are shite now.. they may have topped there group.. but come on.. it wasnt hard Razz

.. as for fifa rankings.. france had to be #1 coming in to the WC.. they were world and european champs.. and had an inpressive unbeaten run of about 17 games i think Laughing

bloddy hell, aregentina cant take loosing, sore loosers, what the hell do they think we've had for the last 40 odd years, we've lost, and acknowledge it when when they cheated, "Hand of god" Evil or Very Mad

just read an online article titled

Argentina leaves World Cup cursing opponents' defensive tactics

heres sum snipets

Quote:
The team left cursing what it perceived as the defensive-minded tactics of its European opponents.

"What can I say?" asked striker Gabriel Batistuta. "We have tried to play good football, and other teams have just thrown everyone back."

Quote:
The players and coaching staff were irate after losing to archrival England. Coach Marcelo Bielsa accused the English of killing the game after scoring a 44th-minute penalty kick.

what the flipping heck, if they didnt play so bad throught the entire tournament, this is just taking the piss

and im probably one of the more calmer..sedate footy supporter, but this ticked me right off Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
