Since you already have XP Professional, there is no need to use/buy additional FTP software, as XP has an FTP server bundled.
To install it, choose "Windows Update Components" (or a similar name) from Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs. When the list with the windows components shows up, choose "Internet Information Services" from the list. If it has a "Details" button, click it and you will be presented with a list of available subcomponents. You can safely leave out "Front page Extensions" and (maybe) Web Service, if you don't want to install a web server. Then, when it's installed, you might want to set up the ftp server not to start at system startup (this can be done in Control Panel->Administrative Tasks-> Services... select FTP Service, right click and choose "properties" ... and select startup as "manual". This way you will have to start it every time you want someone to use it)
Of course you will have to read some documentation about the FTP server(unless you're already familiar with it).
You can manage your FTP site from Control Panel->Administrative Tasks->Internet Information Services. Choose default FTP Site and right click for properties. You can also start/stop the ftp server from this application.
Hope it helps.
PS: I might not remember correctly the name or the location of the buttons/sections ... sorry in advance..
